The Challenge
Their certainty looked like strength; however, it also limited their curiosity. They stopped asking questions about what their teams actually saw, what people needed, what was true.
Their teams experienced them as closed. Decisions felt predetermined. Input was requested but dismissed too quickly. There was no real space for challenge.
The Work
Over six months, structured coaching conversations gave them space to examine how power had changed the way they related. They began to recognise how their certainty had become protective — a way of not admitting where they didn't have answers.
In parallel, feedback from their teams named what they hadn't fully seen: the cost of their certainty, lived daily by the people around them.
The Shift
They started asking real questions again — and waiting for the answers. They became more comfortable saying when they didn't know. They allowed disagreement without immediately defending their position.
Their teams noticed the difference. As curiosity returned, so did access to the intelligence around them. Both the relationships and the decisions improved.
